Still hunting for the holidays? These white lacquer boxes adorned with gilt antlers are the perfect gift. They're sophisticated decor for the Christmas season, but understated enough to display atop an antique chest or cocktail table year-round.
Nothing stops me in my tracks like a room finished in hand-painted Chinoiserie wallpaper. Dining rooms, powder baths, bedrooms - the material be used anywhere and is completely customizable, right down to the shade of tail feathers on the birds. Celebrities love the look, too. Here is a view inside of Aerin Lauder's dressing room...
And Tory Burch's entry, wrapped in a beautiful Gracie paper.
Be warned - wallpapering an entire room is PRICEY. I've actually never bid it myself, but you can probably buy a new car for what it would cost. A good trick to get the look more affordably is to frame a panel or two.
La Dolce Vita
The scenes - which usually depict flowers and birds - work in both traditional and modern interiors.
I just ordered a pretty pair of light blue Chinoiserie wallpaper panels and framed them for the shop. You can't tell by the photo, but each panel is HUGE - 8 feet tall by 36 inches wide. They would be so pretty hung in a dining room, an entry hall or on flanking the sides of a bed.
My latest obsession is surprisingly not home-related....it's the beautiful creations of Lauren Kate Design, a handcrafted jewelry line designed by Dallas girl Stacy Mullikin.
This past spring, Stacy's sweet family of four grew to a party of six with the birth of her identical twin daughters, Lauren and Kate. The girls are genetically identical, but each has a unique personality. This inspired Stacy to create Lauren Kate Design, a collection centered around beautiful stones and delicate, handmade wire-wrapped chains. The materials are stunning. But what I love best about the line is that - like the twins - no two pieces are exactly alike.
This quatrefoil chain is one of my favorites.
You also can design your own piece. Stacy will work with you to mix and match chains with your favorite stone or pendant.
Dallasites are in luck - Lauren Kate Design is showing at this week's Magnolia Market, benefitting Camp John Marc. I haven't been to this event but there are some AMAZING vendors involved. And it's the perfect opportunity to holiday shop while supporting a wonderful cause!
