A Petite Louis Philippe

If you've been reading my blog, you know I've got a thing for Louis Philippe mirrors. I love them in the living room a top a mantle, in the dining room above a buffet, but most of all, I adore a little Louis Philippe in the powder bath.

They're like a little piece of jewelry for your powder bath, and add so much more character than a basic store-bought mirror. Here's an itty bitty silver gilt Louis Philippe mirror from the shop - it's the perfect size at a price that won't break the bank - $695.

Round Top and exciting news!

Hello Polish & Patina friends! It has been a long time since I've posted, and I admit I have been a little under water. To start, the Arthur family has moved into a little apartment while we add a third story on our house. We FINALLY have internet service, hurray! It's been two weeks and although it's a little like camping over here in our 1,000 square foot adobe, we are doing just fine (with the exception of Trooper, who is most unhappy without a backyard). Of course I'll be sharing the final remodel with you, but here's a peek at the progress so far. This was our attic and will soon be a new playroom for our boys.

And here's a peek at the new hallway down to my office and laundry room.

On top of the construction, I've been down to Round Top TWICE in a week. The first trip down was a quick one-day jaunt with my mom, sister and good friend Haven. We combed through the fields in just five hours and managed to come home with some beautiful treasures, like these silver Louis Philippe mirrors for my  booth,

and this antique Indian trunk to use as a console in Haven's living room.

The next week, I drove down again with my buddy Courtenay. Here are a few pretty pictures from inside the tents at Marburger and the Big Red Barn. I love these piles of pillows made with Fortuny fabric and antique tapestry fragements.

A beautiful painted English chest - wouldn't this be so cute in a nursery?

The women in my family have a box fetish - this table display is a dream!

This basic vintage brass chandelier looks modern when topped with a drum shade. I brought this home to use as a ceiling fixture in Benton's bedroom.

And finally, I've got some exciting news for EMYO fans - on May 29th at 6 p.m., I'm hosting a special exhibit called "Postcards from Paris" featuring canvases painted during her travels in France, all of which are inspired by vintage French postcards.

It's going to be a fun evening with beautiful art, antiques and of course, wine. Invitations to hit the mail soon!
