Like when my mom made two-year-old Leighton this Mickey Mouse costume. His favorite song that year was "Hot Dog" from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Just last month he went to a concert for his favorite band, Mumford & Sons.
I guess I have to accept that my little boy is growing up! So obviously to cope, I decided Leighton's bedroom needed a makeover. I found the iron bed YEARS ago from Dallas shop Stephanie Anne, and then recovered the headboard in a navy stripe from Pindler & Pindler. The bedskirt was custom made in the same fabric. The rest of the bedding is made by Pine Cone Hill. The bulletin board was in my childhood room and simply repainted blue, and the vintage Highland Park pennant is a Round Top find.
This painted industrial bin was brought home from Scott's Antique Show in Atlanta. I brightened up the top in "Starburst" by Peter Dunham Textiles. This is my absolute favorite print for a boys' room - check out all of the color options here!
These are called "Deluxe Euro Shams" - the same height as a regular Euro, but twice the width. The fabric is "Sawyer" from the Kerry Joyce Collection, mitered trim is Samuel & Sons.
Every room needs a good antique. This pine chest stores Leighton's clothes and serves as a good resting place for all of his little treasures. I collected the antique ice fishing lures and framed them in a shadow box.
I know it's a pretty grown-up room for an eight-year-old, but I'm hoping it's a room that he can grow into and won't have to be re-decorated. Or at least that's what I'm telling Stroud! :)
