A Pair of Blanc de Chine Lamps

"Blanc de Chine" is a fancy word, but it simply means white Chinese porcelain. It dates back from the early 1300s, and the figurines are highly collectible today. But my favorite Blanc de Chine pieces are the modern Mid Century lamps.

These pretty Blanc de Chine lamps are for sale in Dallas designer Jan Showers' 1st Dibs shop.

I just got in a pretty pair, too - and I finished them just like the Jan Showers version, with painted black bases, drum shades and acrylic finials. And at $1,625 for the pair, they're a fraction of the cost of Ms. Showers version.
