"Blanc de Chine" is a fancy word, but it simply means white Chinese porcelain. It dates back from the early 1300s, and the figurines are highly collectible today. But my favorite Blanc de Chine pieces are the modern Mid Century lamps.
I just got in a pretty pair, too - and I finished them just like the Jan Showers version, with painted black bases, drum shades and acrylic finials. And at $1,625 for the pair, they're a fraction of the cost of Ms. Showers version.

The home of Houston designer Carol Glasser was recently published in Antique Shops and Designers. Of course I love the beautiful antiques, symmetry, the natural fiber rugs. But what really grabs me is the mix of peach and light blue. Is there a prettier combination?
