An Art Deco Mirror

Fashion editors are saying one of spring's biggest trends is Art Deco. Designers showed elements from the roaring 20s on the runways at Gucci, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren.

LA Times

Art Deco style originated in Paris in the 1920s, and is known for it's bold geometric designs and linear symmetry. It's easy to spot in architecture...

In jewelry...

And in these French Art Deco club chairs.

I just found my own Art Deco treasure for the shop, this fabulous period-inspired mirror. It's new, but the glass is really antiqued (which means it's super "smokey" looking), and it's encased in a simple painted frame. Here it hangs above a chest as one large piece. But it's so versatile. The mirror is actually three panels connected by hinges, so it can also be displayed as a screen, or separated and hung as three individual, smaller mirrors.

Here's a close-up of the cut pattern of the glass. Definitely Art Deco... but subtle enough for my traditional girl taste!
